A rather weird and gloomy movie, which one should understand just by the title, and for some reason (that I don't really know), I liked it.

It's kind of dreamy, and I can see how the narrator - who accompany us throughout the film, is sitting on his porch when he is old looking back at what actually happened.

Narrator: We knew the girls were really women in disguise, that they understood love, and even death, and that our job was merely to create the noise that seemed to fascinate them.

I also like that this is not an ordinary teen-flick with girls just drinking and fooling around with boys. It is a gentle and innocent story about the boys' views on everything. I believe it is this that makes me fond of it. It would have been a completely ordinary "oh feel sorry for us" kind of movie otherwise. Now it's the boys' thoughts about girls and their love of them that is in focus and how they constantly want to be near them. And despite the incredibly sad story, it suddenly becomes quite beautiful.

Tim Weiner: What we have here is a dreamer. Someone completely out of touch with reality.

Doctor: What are you doing here, honey? You're not even old enough to know how bad life gets.

Cecilia: Obviously, Doctor, you've never been a

13-year-old girl.

This is a beautiful story / movie about how girls doesn't get to be children to the same extent as boys do.

Film language is bright and almost happy, but behind the facade hides the darkness that one does not notice until it's too late. From the outside you can't see what is happening and because it's the boys in the neighborhood that tell the story, we don't really know how bad it might be.

Spoiler! The fact that the neighbors at the end of the film uses suicide as a party theme is in my opinion very macabre, but it also shows how much the people in the neighborhood really cared.

Narrator: We would never be sure of the sequence of events. We argue about it still.
